2007 September 26 (Day 6)
Weather: Fine
Site: NT2-03 Pilot hole (33°14’ N, 136°42’ E)
Science Operations on Deck: Due to the hole condition change from 498 mbsf, drilling continued with sweep of HiVis drilling fluid at connections, and more circulation and slower ROP (Rate of Penetration).
Science Operations in Labs: Science party started working on logging data analysis with previous ODP log data. Science seminar 3 covering Accretionary Prism modeling, and borehole breakouts and in situ stress studies was presented by 3 scientists. Safety Management System (SMS) lecture began to scientists in 4 person groups.
Lab technicians continued working in the lab area for maintenance, instrument setup and rearrangements. In addition, PreSpud meeting on GeoTech Coring was held and finalized the procedure and tasks, then prepared for core handling.
