Science Operations on Deck: After pulling out the MWD tool string for the pilot hole, Chikyu moved 2 nm upstream, and making up the LWD assembly at 11:15 a.m. on 12 November and began running into the hole while ship was drifting. Connected to the top drive system at 3854 m and running in with circulation. At 00:45 a.m. of 13 November, seabed was confirmed at 3871.5 m water depth and spudded.

Science Operations in Labs: Meeting was held to discuss end of cruise logistics and post-cruise research plan. Preparation for Expedition 315 coring was discussed between scientists and operations personnel. Expedition 315 scientists continued working in the lab area with lab technicians. Lab technicians continued setting up instruments and cross-over of lab officers.
