2007 December 14 (Day 29)
Weather: Fine but Cloudy
Site: C0002 (NT3-01) (33°18’ N, 136°38’ E)
Science Operations on Deck: Cored continuously from 995.5 to 1057.0 meters below seafloor by RCB and cut 10 cores. Core recovery is about 40% in average. Short advance (4.5 m instead of normal 9.5 m) was applied for cores 58R, 59R, 60R, 61R, 64R and 65R. Recovery was around 2–3 m regardless to the advance, which means short advance has better recovery rate in general.
Science Operations in Labs: Drafts of Site Summary reports of Site C0001 were in review by Co-Chiefs and Expedition Project Manager. Continued core processing and measurements. Structural geologists carefully describe deformation structures on split halves of accretionary prism cores.
