Crew had returned to ship after onshore stay during maintenance at dry dock, all guarantee
maintenance has been completed . Two main engines were overhauled; pieces of part were inspected and cleaned
by manufacturer, and sent back to onboard to assemble again.
Also, rusty water was improved which had been found at
a part of living compartment during last cruise. These kinds of maintenance for living environment
are also important for long term expedition. In addition, the annual inspection was carried out for safety
equipments on life boat, deck cranes, DPS and many other equipments.
After these maintenances, system
integration test is continued and CHIKYU will go to the riser drilling test off Shimokita peninsula in this summer which is targeted
deeper than 2,000 meter below seafloor.
