Since November 17th 2008, the scientific data and sediment core sample acquired during shakedown cruise of the Chikyu which was carried out by JAMSTEC in 2005 and 2006 have been available for public after expiring the moratorium period on disclosure for securing priority use of shipboard science party.

The core sample is managed by Kochi Core Center and distributed for research and education purpose without charge by submitting the sample request. Also scientific data such as physical properties, geochemical data, visual core descriptions, images, X-ray CT scan images, logging data are available online from JAMSTEC data search portal site.
