Since February 6th 2009, the scientific data and sediment core sample acquired during Stage 1 Expeditions for the Nankai Trough Seismogenic Zone Experiment (NanTroSEIZE), which was carried out during 2007 and 2008, have become available for scientific and educational use by community. Until this date, the data and samples were under the moratorium period for securing priority use of these by the science party members of the Stage 1 expeditions.
The core sample is managed by Kochi Core Center and distributed for research and education purpose without any charge. The samples can be obtained by submitting a sample request through the IODP Sample Material Curation System. Also scientific data such as physical properties, geochemical data, core images, X-ray CT scan images, logging data from the Stage 1 expeditions are available online from the IODP Scientific Earth Drilling Information System (SEDIS).
