======================================== CHIKYU MAIL NEWS Vol. 103, July 3rd 2008 This mail news service provides you with information about the Deep Sea Drilling Vessel "Chikyu" and science and technology for the IODP Earth exploration. CHIKYU HAKKEN WEB SITE http://www.jamstec.go.jp/chikyu/ ======================================== ---------------------------------------- [Update] *CHIKYU Data Base Set-up You can easily get information about science data collected by CHIKYU from web data system! [Event information] *IODP Campaign in Hiroshima & Science Cafe! ---------------------------------------- *Information about the release of core data by the CHIKYU 'Public J-CORES Data Center' The Public J-CORES Data Center has been set up so researchers can use core data samples collected by CHIKYU expeditions. Only shipboard researchers can use cores for up to one year after the expedition, with the requirement that they have to publish the results in international journals. After the data release, everyone can access and use the data. Also, data collected in NanTroSEIZE Stage 1A will be released on February 5th 2009, on the J-CORES data base. You can download information about visual core descriptions (VCD), micro-paleontological records of fossil occurrences, and X-ray CT Scanner for each drilling hole. It is also possible retrieve the drilling hole locations by using Google Map and Google Earth at the same time. Data regarding NanTroSEIZE Stage 1A has not yet been released, but it is possible to download data from other expeditions.
