Azuma Appointed Director-General of CDEX
----------------------------------------
Dr. Wataru Azuma, Director of Kochi Institute for Core
Sample Research, has been appointed the Director-General
of the Center for Deep Earth Exploration (CDEX) at the
Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC)
on July 1st 2009.
Dr. Azuma will lead the Chikyu's operations for the
Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP) as a successor of
Dr. Asahiko Taira who continuously oversees CDEX as the
Executive Director of JAMSTEC.
Under the new leadership, CDEX will contribute to
the IODP research through operation of the Deep Sea
Drilling Vessel Chikyu.
