Sand for Students is a program in which students themselves collect sand from nearby rivers and seashores, to build a worldwide sand database.
The Sand for Students interactive hands-on outreach program is carried out by JAMSTEC, which operates the scientific deep-sea drilling vessel Chikyu, as an outreach activity of the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP).
