28 Nov. 2011: Mirai

Nov.28Rainy

All of the instruments and observations are working well.

Our observation at the SE point ends by completing the cycle at 06UTC. After that, we are heading to the mooring point to recover it. (Please note, therefore, the radar images on the right column are from the moving platform)

The convections are very compicated above us.
Before departure, the wide echo band, oriented zonally, moved from north slowly, while the NW-SE-oriented convective band moves westward over us periodically. While the wide echo band disspipated, somezonally-oriented convective band appeared. We start cruising that time.
As we cruise NNW, the widespread echo moves basically westward, while the weak echo moves southward. At the northern tip of the widespread echo, the wind turns from easterly to westerly.

In the oceanic profile at the last CTD cast, the temperature drop in the surface 40m is observed, while the salinity drop is not clear.
