Asian Monsoon

Monsoon Asian Heat and Water Balance Dataset

Integration and Analysis: Monsoon Asian heat and water balance dataset

Climatic daily data of heat and water balance in Monsoon Asian Region. The data was calculated from surface meteorological point daily data during 1971-2000.

With the cooperation between Asian Monsoon Subject and Agriculture Subject under DIAS, we have finished the climatic daily solar radiation flux data, which is one part of heat and water balance data set. The data set was based on the daily observation data at weather station in Monsoon Asian Region.

Precipitation interpolated from stations

The solar radiation flux of July

Daily, seasonal change, annual variation of the heat and water balances can be obtained from this data set. The data set will be compared with the calculated results from GCMs and regional climatic models. The compared results will be feedback for improving the GCMs and regional climatic models. For the Agriculture field, field water temperature, soil temperature and soil water content can be estimated by employing the heat and water balance model with the data set as input. The models with photosynthetic process of vegetation can be improved due to the using of the solar radiation flux data. The estimation method was according to Xu et al. 2003, Kondo 1994, and Kondo et al. 1996. Some impacts that may influence the sunshine ratio, such as topography, atmospheric turbidity, buildings around the weather stations, were taken into the consideration.
