Yokohama Institute for Earth Sciences (YES) has been conducting the process (modeling) research on global changes and research on the dynamics of the Earth's interior by best utilizing the supercomputer, "The Earth Simulator", one of the top-performance computers in the world. YES acts as the central database on the global observatory data. It constructs a system to accumulate data of the observatory research of JAMSTEC, and to administer them electronically and to furnish the latest research achievement to the public.

- YES can be reached via three train stations. The walk to YES is 13 minutes from Shin-sugita Station on JR Keihin-tohoku Line (also called JR Negishi Line), 15 minutes from Sugita Station on Keikyu Line, and 15 minutes from Nambu-shijo Station on Sea-side Line. YES can also be reached by Keihin Kyuko bus. The walk to YES is 5 minutes from Sugita bus stop.
