Indian Ocean Dipole Mode (IOD) is the event that seawater temperature drops in eastern Indian Ocean (off Java,Indonesia),rises in middle to western Indian Ocean near the equator (off Kenya). It is believed that the convection accompany with MJO hardly develops during the IOD event. IOD was observed in 1994 and 1997,and it normally develops in summer,at peak in October to November and diminishes in December. This time the movement is the same as usual, now it is winding down. In November 2005,Climate Variations Research Program,Frontier Research Center for Global Change (FRCGC),JAMSTEC had succeeded its prediction for the first time in the world.
