Japan Agency Marine-Earth Science and Technology
The Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) will invite elementary school children to participate in the 13th annual “Draw Your Dreams of the Ocean on a Postcard” contest.
The contest is held annually as part of initiatives to increase children’s awareness of the ocean environment. Children are invited to submit pictures or descriptions of their dreams of or fascination with the ocean on a post card. The event also aims to provide a platform for children to learn more about the ocean both at home and school.
Entries can be submitted for three categories: hand drawn art, computer graphic (CG) art, and “innovative ideas.” The third category is intended to encourage children’s imagination and creativity. Children can either draw or describe their dream ocean instrument, probes or marine environments.
This year’s contest has established a new award to be given by local public entities which recommend this art project as a winter recess assignment. All entries must be received (or post-marked) no later than Monday, January 31. Pictures including computer graphics must be drawn in color on a postcard or postcard-sized paper. Entries are not accepted online.
