|Job Description||Postdoctoral Researcher:
In order to improve the reliability of information obtained from the forecasting simulation for weather and climate, research on improvement in the reliability of predictive simulation information, which is including comparison among models' physical performance, comparison among dynamic schemes or physical process schemes, comparison of computational algorithms, development of new ensemble forecasting approaches, is promoted.
Technical Support Staff:
1.Support of research and development of the forecasting simulation for weather and climate.
2.Support of research and development on comparison among models' physical performance, comparison among dynamic schemes or physical process schemes and comparison of computational algorithms.
*There may be change in affiliation in case of reorganization in the Agency.
Applicant is required to hold a Ph.D. degree within 5 years, prior to the date of employment, in a related field, which should be compatible with the above job requirements. Also, knowledge and experience on simulations, models for atmosphere or ocean, computational schemes and comparison methods on physical performance of models, or challenging mind in the above research area.
Technical Support Staff:
Ph.D. degree in closely related field or equivalent with extensive experience acceptable. Also, knowledge and experience on simulations, models for atmosphere or ocean, computational schemes, or challenging mind in the above research area.

Postdoctoral Researcher: Discretionary labor system
Technical Support Staff: 9:00-17:30 (Lunch hour 12:15-13:00)
Postdoctoral Researcher: April 1st, 2013 to March 31st, 2014.
*Employment contract is renewable every fiscal year depending on the progress of research and research project. Maximum contract period will be total of 3 fiscal years.
Technical Support Staff: April 1st, 2013 to March 31st, 2016.
*After the contract period above is expired, judging from the performance evaluation and work progress, the maximum contract term may extend until maximum total period of 6 fiscal years.
|Salary||Salary will be decided in accordance with JAMSTEC's bylaws in annual salary system, by considering the candidate's academic career, research ability and research role in APL. The expected salary will be as follows;
Postdoctoral Researcher: JPY5,256,000/year
Technical Support Staff: JPY4,000,000-5,250,000/year
No bonus/retirement allowance provided. Also, Salary will not change during contract period.
|Terms of Employment||1) On appointment, relocation fee will be provided in accordance with JAMSTEC's bylaws to Postdoctoral Researcher only.
2) Allowance for commuting expenses will be provided.
3) The participant and JAMSTEC will share the premiums for health insurance and labor insurance according to the current statutory proportion.
4) Housing lease service is not available.
5) Holidays and vacations: Saturday, Sunday, public holidays, year-end and beginning of the year are holidays. There are annual vacations with pay, special vacations, and care and maternity leave.
6) Other: There are various kinds of subsidies available for personal interests/welfare provided by JAMSTEC's employees' cooperative.

*The transportation fee is payable to Postdoctoral Researcher candidates from abroad, but only under specific situations.
