Specifically, 1) black carbon particles will be observed in the atmosphere and snow in boreal forest regions with potentially high fire activity (e.g., near Yakutsk, Russia and Poker Flat, AK, USA), near source regions in Asia (Japan and Taiwan), and from the R/V Mirai operated by JAMSTEC, and 2) important sources (such as wildfires, human activity, and long-range transport from mid/low latitudes) will be evaluated in the pan-Arctic region, using chemical transport model simulations.
