Job Description We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position to join a project entitled “Quantifying human influence on ocean melting of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet (2019–February 13, 2022; principal investigator, Satoshi Kimura)". This project is funded by a United Kingdom Research and Innovation (UKRI)-Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) call for research partnerships.

[Job Specification]

Quantifying the ice shelf melting is of great societal importance because it affects global sea levels. The current project will investigate the relative contributions of anthropogenic forcing and climate variability to ocean melting of ice shelves in the Amundsen Sea Embayment. The successful applicant will use numerical models of ocean, sea ice, and ice shelves in the Amundsen Sea (MITgcm) to quantify the ocean processes and feedbacks that control ice shelf melting.

Glaciology, Mathematics, Physical oceanography, Physics.
Job Type Postdoctoral Researcher: To contribute to the project, a Postdoctoral Researcher should be able to independently conduct the research subject which is authorized by the Project under direction of a leader, and to be appointed intend to improve his/her research qualities.
