| Available Position & Research Topics | How will global warming affect our local area. It is very interesting issue, but there are many problems with regional assessments of climate change impacts. Most of GCMs, which are used a global warming simulation, cannot simulate detailed orographical effects in local area because the resolustion (120km~240km) is too rough under the limited computational resources at present. It is expected that the comprehensive regional study of global warming, which is based on physics processes, is possible to connect the science of climate change and the impacts, adaptation and vulnerability by a downscaling method using a regional climate model developed recently. We, regional climate modeling research team, conduct advanced downscaling studies to connect between the physical science and the adaptation study seamlessly in close cooperation with those researchers using the research program on climate change adaptation (RECCA). We are also studying a communication method to introduce appropriate downscaling information to local stake holders (citizens) in cooperation with a local government. We are seeking some professional researchers of downscaling study or relating studies to the project of RECCA (http://www.mext-isacc.jp/eng/). To reflect your experiments as a professional researcher, we expect you to participate in the detailed planning of our project and also to make an effort to write research papers using this research results. |
