We invite applicants for a Project Scientist position to engage in research and development of Marine Ecosystem Research Team.
This research will be conducted within the framework of the JSPS Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research Program on Innovative Areas "NEOPS" that had started FY2012.
|Job Description||The Ecosystem Change Research Team is conducting retrospective research to understand the pattern and process of long-term change in the lower trophic level ecosystem and its link to ocean biogeochemical cycle through various International collaboration. We seek a highly motivated scientist who will conduct the development of 3D-PFT ecosystem - biogeochemical model in the North Pacific to elucidate mechanism of the observed changes and future projection of ecosystem structure and biogeochemical cycle e.g. according to global warming scenario.

|Requirements||Applicants must have a Ph.D. in closely related field. Expected to achieve outstanding research results.
The prospective candidate should have some experience in development of 3D-PFT ecosystem model, and excellent communication skill for working in international scientific communities.

|Working Condition and Contract Period||Period of employment is from January 1st, 2013 to March 31st, 2013
*Appointment date is negotiable.
*One contract term is one Japanese fiscal year.
*The contract can be renewed four times.
(The total contract term is maximum five Japanese fiscal years, until March 31st, 2017.)

|Salary||Salary will be competitive in accordance with JAMSTEC's bylaws, by considering academic career, research ability and research role in RIGC (annual salary system). Appointment level for positions will be determined by JAMSTEC after the interview based upon the discussion with the successful candidates.
e.g. Annual salary c.a. JPY 5,900,000
|Terms of Employment||1) On appointment, relocation fee will be provided in accordance with JAMSTEC's bylaws.
2) The participant and JAMSTEC will share the premiums for insurance and labor insurance according to the current statutory proportion.
3) Housing lease service is available.
4) Allowance for commuting expenses will be provided.
5) No bonus/retirement allowance provided.
6) Holidays and vacations: Saturday, Sunday, public holidays, year-end and beginning of the year are holidays.
There are annual vacations with pay, special vacations, and leave of absence for care and maternity leave.
7) Other: There are various kinds of subsidies available for personal interests/welfare provided by JAMSTEC's employees' cooperative.
