|Job Description||We are seeking Postdoctoral Researcher or Technical Support Staff who can work on the researches listed below:
(1) Understanding transport, chemistry and flux of atmospheric long-lived greenhouse gases, based on forward simulation of multiple species, by using global transport model.
(2) Developing techniques to improve surface fluxes, using regional/global model and observation data.
*There may be change in affiliation in case of reorganization in the Agency.
|Qualification for application||Postdoctoral Researcher : Applicants are required to hold a Ph.D. degree in Atmospheric Science related fields with proven records of excellent oral and written communications skills. Applicants should have earned the Ph.D. degree within five years prior to the date of employment.
Technical Support Staff : Applicants are required to hold a master's degree and five years of work experience in Atmospheric Science related fields with proven records of excellent oral and written communications skills.
Applicants for both are required to have advanced knowledge in FORTRAN programming, large dataset handling, visualization software, and UNIX environment.
*Relevant research fields : Atmospheric Science, Earth System Modeling, Biogeosciences.

Postdoctoral Researcher: Discretionary labor system
Technical Support Staff: 9:00-17:30 (Lunch hour 12:15-13:00)
June 1st, 2013 to March 31st, 2014.
*Maximum contract period is 1 fiscal year and the contract is renewable up to two fiscal years depending on the performance evaluation and the progress of research and research project.
*The limit of contract period is by the end of the research assignment of "Understanding chemistry, transport and surface fluxes of long-lived gases in the troposphere by a multi-species and multi-model approach" (till March 31st, 2015).
|Salary||Salary will be decided in accordance with JAMSTEC's bylaws in annual salary system, by considering the candidate's academic career, research ability and research role in RIGC. The expected salary will be as follows;
Postdoctoral Researcher: JPY5,000,000-5,250,000/year
Technical Support Staff: JPY4,200,000-5,000,000/year
No bonus/retirement allowance provided. Also salary will not be changed during contract period.
|Terms of Employment||1) On appointment, relocation fee will be provided in accordance with JAMSTEC's bylaws to Postdoctoral Researcher only.
2) Allowance for commuting expenses will be provided.
3) The participant and JAMSTEC will share the premiums for health insurance and labor insurance according to the current statutory proportion.
4) Housing lease service is not available.
5) Holidays and vacations: Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, year-end and New Year holidays. There are annual vacations with pay, special vacations, and care and maternity leave.
6) Other: There are various kinds of subsidies available for personal interests/welfare provided by JAMSTEC's employees' cooperative.
