Terrestrial Ecosystem Research Team in Environmental Biogeochemical Cycle Research Program(EBCRP), Research Instisute for Global Changee(RIGC) will be recruiting one position as Part-time Employee to engage in research and development of Terrestrial Ecosystem Research Team. We have been working on the research topics related to terrestrial plant vegetation dynamics using multiple satellite data sets. We are looking for associate analyst who can work with us once or twice a week.

This Part-time Employee will engage in the research theme "Development of a new photosynthesis model using the 3D canopy strucure and fluorescence", which is supported by Grand in Aid (Kakenhi).

Job Description Successful candidate will work under the instruction of the project PI.
The detail tasks we would ask are:
1. Satellite data analysis (downloading, copying, and basic band calculation etc)
2. Statistical analysis of the satellite data
Requirements 1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent diploma is required.
2. Basic computer skill is required. Successful applicant will use Excel for the field data analysis.
3. To manipulate satellite data sets, Successful applicant should work with ENVI/Open source GIS softwares OR Matlab/C.

Working Condition and Contract Period Employment status: Fixed term system, Part-time work

Working term:
Period of employment is from August 1st, 2013 to March 31st, 2014.
*Appointment date is negotiable.
*The contract can NOT be renewed.
Woking hours:
1day per week from Monday to Friday. *negotiable
09:00 - 17:30 (rest time: 45minutes)
*Maximum 7hours per day, 24hous per week
Salary Hourly pay rate : JPY1,000
Terms of Employment 1) Allowance for commuting expenses will be provided. (Maximum: JPY 2,380 per day)
2) Holidays and vacations: Saturday, Sunday, public holidays, year-end and beginning of the year are holidays.
