Rock Sample Geochemical Data of JAMSTEC is now available on EarthChem Portal

October 7, 2009

The geochemical data portal “EarthChem” of Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory (USA) has started to provide access to JAMSTEC’s rock sample database “GANSEKI”.

The Data Research Center for Marines-Earth Sciences (DrC) in JAMSTEC manages rock samples obtained by JAMSTEC’s research vessels. To disseminate metadata and geochemical data of these rock samples, DrC has developed and has been operating the Deep Sea Floor Rock Sample Database “GANSEKI” since 2006.

The Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University operates “EarthChem“, a portal site for geochemical data of rock samples, which enables users to retrieve data among major databases, PetDB, NAVDAT, GEOROC and etc. DrC has collaborated with Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory to provide the metadata GANSEKI contains to EarthChem, and from now, geochemical data of GANSEKI is available to be retrieved in EarthChem.
