Marine plastic related event with His Royal Highness Prince Charles

On Wednesday, October 23, 2019, President MATSUNAGA Tadashi and other delegates of the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) met His Royal Highness Prince Charles on board the British Royal Navy survey ship, HMS Enterprise, moored at Harumi Pier in Tokyo, to describe JAMSTEC’s activities on the research of marine plastic. The Prince was in Japan to witness the enthronement ceremony for Emperor Naruhito.

Prince Charles listened intently as JAMSTEC detailed the current status of marine plastic research and the analytical methods used in their collaborations with UK marine research institutions, such as the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton.

JAMSTEC remains committed to promoting collaborative research with institutions in the UK.
