Exhibition Facilities

JAMSTEC has four exhibition facilities in Japan in order to introduce to the public the on-going research activities along with research achievements, and present the latest information about the Earth and its oceans in an easy-to-understand format.
Earth Science Museum (Yokohama Institute for Earth Sciences)
The museum has gallery spaces with 3D and other large screens, and a library with a rich audiovisual collection, which help visitors learn about the Earth and marine science.

Marine Science Museum (Yokosuka Headquarters)
Visitors can take a look at a full-scale model of SHINKAI 6500 and some deep-sea creatures.

Hatsushima Oceanographic Museam
In addition to the display of samples of deep-sea creatures and models of deep-sea submersibles, the museum shows research projects that have much to do with the island of Hatsushima.

Global Oceanographic Data Center (GODAC)
The Center was established in 2001 in Nago City, Okinawa prefecture as a site to collect and to disseminate the environmental information on the sea and Earth. It provides a fun way for visitors to learn about the sea and Earth.
