Available Position JAMSTEC is recruiting a total of one position as a Postdoctoral Researcher (BGP-005)

Job Description We are soliciting applications for the position of Postdoctoral Researcher focusing on nitrogen isotope analyses of amino acids in fish vertebrae and zooplankton as part of "Global mapping of marine nitrogen isotopes using a nitrogen isotope model for understanding fish migration (FY2020–2022, Principal investigator: Chisato Yoshikawa)" within a Joint International Research effort (Fostering Joint International Research (A)) and "Understanding of fish migration by nitrogen isotope ratio (FY2019–2022, Principal investigator: Chisato Yoshikawa)" within a Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (B).

The team at JAMSTEC will establish a technique for elucidating fish migration by examining nitrogen isotope ratios in amino acids, marine nitrogen isotope modeling, and growth-migration modeling.

Biogeochemistry, Analytical chemistry, Marine biology, Fisheries science, or other related fields. Prior research experience with nitrogen isotope analyses of amino acids is not essential.
Job Type Postdoctoral Researcher: To contribute to the project, a Postdoctoral Researcher should be able to independently conduct the research subject which is authorized by the Project under direction of a leader, and to be appointed intend to improve his/her research qualities.

*There may be a change in affiliation in the case of reorganization of the Agency.
Requirements Applicants are required to have been awarded or expect to have obtained a Ph.D. in a related field by the date of employment. In addition, no more than 5 years may have passed between the last day of the fiscal year in which the applicants obtained a Ph.D. and the date of employment (i.e., applicants who earned a Ph.D. after April 2015 are eligible.)

*The contract period can be renewed but the maximum employment period will be at the end of March, 2022.

*Appointment date is negotiable.
*One contract period is a maximum of 1 fiscal year.
*The contract period will end at the conclusion of this funding.
*The contract period mentioned above will change according to budget of this program.
*In accordance with JAMSTEC bylaws, on reaching the age of 65 during an employed fiscal year, the contract period will expire at the end of the same fiscal year. This bylaw may change. 
*This position is a non-tenure-track, fixed-term employee position. 
Salary Annual salary (paid in 1/12 equal monthly payments)
 JPY 5,250,000

*There is no raise, bonus and retirement allowance.
Terms of Employment (1) Upon appointment, the successful applicant will receive relocation allowances in accordance with JAMSTEC bylaws.
(2) An allowance for commuting expenses will be provided.
(3) The employee and JAMSTEC will share the premiums for social insurance and labor insurance in the proportion specified by current statute.
(4) The JAMSTEC employee cooperative provides various subsidies for mutual aid and welfare services.
(5) Housing lease service is not available.
(6) Holidays and vacations: Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, year-end, and New Year's holidays. Annual vacations with pay, special vacations, leave of absence to care for a family member, and maternity leave are provided.

d) Publication (achievement) list including thesis titles.
*Please list publications in refereed (peer-reviewed) journals separately from unrefereed publications.
*Include DOI codes if available.
e) List of competitive research funds awarded to the applicant.
*If you have not been awarded any, include "none" in the list.
f) Two (or fewer) representative publications in PDF formats.

(2) Submission:
