A coupled non-hydrostatic atmosphere-ocean model has been developed, capable of multiscale-multiphysics simulation according to purpose or use. The coupled model has been optimized for the Earth Simulator, and has reached a peak computational efficiency of 55%.
The Advanced Visualization and Perception Research Group is developing algorithms and tools for high-performance visualization, representation, and processing of large-scale data produced by the Earth Simulator.
The Geophysical Fluid Simulation Research Group is advancing the frontiers of research in predictability and mechanism of atmospheric and oceanic high-impact events, such as heat waves, heavy snow, and variability of the Kuroshio extension area, by global, ultra-high resolution and large computational simulations.
Simulation Technology Application Research Group provides technical assistance for program implementation and research and development of numerical simulation programs.
The Information Systems Departement administers networks, contact other organizations and promote technology development to manage the whole earth simulator systems.
