Contents should include research results of fiscal year 2008, using the Earth Simulator.

Each project should submit a manuscript.

2. Guideline for writing a manuscript

For writing a manuscript, authors should read and follow the guideline materials;

3. Submitting a manuscript

State on cover address of an envelop "Enc. Study Report of 2008" with red ink

• Authors should submit both an electric data and print-out for a manuscript.
• Earth Simulator Center will do the editing process, including laying out process.
• The type of media for submitting a manuscript should be either CD or DVD. For possible other type of medium, authors should consult with the Earth Simulator Center.
• Submitting a manuscript has to be via "direct mail". Earth Simulator wouldn't basically accept submission through e-mail.
• The submitted manuscript and media will not basically be returned.

4. Others

Process of proofreading

1. It is the authors who do proofreading of a manuscript.
2. Basically, there is only ONE proofreading for each manuscript. There is no second proofreading.
3. In the process of proofreading, authors should really be careful, and check the followings and fix everything you need to fix on the manuscript.
   • Consistency of "Figure number" both in the text and in the figure (caption)
   • Keywords, title, the name of authors, the name of affiliations, reference format
   • Position of figure, color of figure, text in the figure (latitude, longitude, color bar unit, and etc.)
4. For the manuscript submitted after due date,there are possibilities that the rest of editing processes is continued to printing process "by omitting proofreading process". The authors should be really careful on that.

Copyright

1. Authors must transfer copyright to the articles of "Annual Report of the Earth Simulator Center" to JAMSTEC (Independent Administrative Institution, Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology).
2. The copyright transfer covers the exclusive right to reproduce and distribute the article, including reprints, translations, photographic reproductions, microform, electronic form (offline, online) or any other reproductions of similar nature. Quoted figures or pictures must have permission from the owner, and the sources must be cited in the manuscript.
