要旨
Sharing scientific data, especially in the geosciences, presents challenging problems for which database systems and traditional file transfer do not always provide adequate solutions. Other data models, protocols, interfaces, formats, and conventions have proven useful for accessing and sharing collections of scientific data.
This presentation looks at recent improvements in scientific data access infrastructure software for a community of researchers and educators in the atmospheric sciences. It includes overviews and discussion of advancements to netCDF, the THREDDS Data Server, the Unidata Local Data Manager, OPeNDAP, the CF Conventions, and a Common Data Model for Earth Science data. The Unidata Integrated Data Viewer provides a demonstration of a visualization and analysis application that makes use of many of these technologies.
