1. Objectives of FRCGC
We need to develop nested ocean general circulation models with high-resolution embedded in the Indo-Pacific Ocean basin model to simulate larvae dispersal patterns in the South East Asian Sea and Western Pacific (SEW-WP) regions. The model results are analyzed for investigation of large-scale larvae dispersal processes, which provide base knowledge for identifying marine protected areas (MPAs) in the SEA-WP regions on the basis of understanding large-scale networks of coastal eco systems (the'reef connectivity'). We collaborate with the Eco System Research Program to develop ocean-low level eco system couple models.

This research will be funded by the Tokyo Institute of Technology that will contract with the Ministry of Environment Japan for the research project'Conservation strategy based on the assessment of environmental burden and large-scale networks of coastal eco systems in the SEA-WP regions' supported by the Global Environmental Research Fund. This research is a part of the cooperative graduate school program between JAMSTEC and the Tokyo Institute of Technology.

2. Qualification for application:
We expect that candidates have a Ph.D. in related fields. We also welcome applicants who have the equivalent research experiences. Experience in numerical simulations for atmospheric/ocean is desirable.

Any nationality, any sex, and any age could be applied. FRCGC has the principle of equality of men and women as it relates to the recruitment of all staff. With a view to achieving a more equitable balance of men and women in all positions, we would like to particularly encourage qualified women to apply.
