1. Objectives of Ecosystem Change Research Program
The Ecosystem Change Research Program of the JAMSTEC Frontier Research Center for Global Change seeks an improved understanding of how ecosystems respond to global climate change and other environmental variations. The research emphasizes the spatial and temporal patterns of ecosystem structure and functioning, including biomass and net primary production, across a broad climatic gradient in the Asia-Pacific region. We invite applications for the position of postdoctoral researcher in the area of terrestrial remote sensing and modeling for understanding the vegetation-climate relations. Researchers who have finished their Ph. D course in last three years are especially encouraged to apply for.

2. Qualification
Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. in a related field. We also welcome applicants who have equivalent research experience. Candidates are expected to have research experiences in the satellite observation of terrestrial ecosystem change and related modeling.

4. Contract period
Period of employment is November 4th, 2008 to March 31st 2009. Employment contract will be renewed every beginning of fiscal year depending on the progress of research. Maximum contract term is two years (November 4th, 2008 -November 3rd, 2010).

5. Term of employment
(1) Annual salary will be 5,256,000 yen/year.
(2) Traveling expenses will be provided according to the JAMSTEC regulations.
(3) JAMSTEC and employee will share the social insurance cost and employment insurance according to the current statutory proportion.
(4) No housing allowance
(5) Commutation allowance will be provided.
(6) Holidays and vacations: Saturday, Sunday, public holidays, the year-end and the beginning of the year are holidays. Employee will have additional 20 days for paid leaves in every year.
(7) Other:
i) There are various subsidy systems for personal interests/welfare.
ii) The discretionary labor system is adopted for full-time researcher.

The reference letters should be sent directly from them to Research Promotion Office, Frontier Research Center for Global Change (see below)
c. Resume (with your email address for contact)
d. Publication list. Please include publications, oral/poster presentations and other achievement. Please separate those with referred journals from other publications
e. A list of current research grants

7. Notice for applicant
