The Frontier Research Center for Global Change invites applicants for a postdoctoral researcher position in the research objective as follows:Please see our homepage: for details about FRCGC, ACRP
The Atmospheric Composition Research Program of FRCGC has been promoting observational and modeling researches on the variations and changes of the atmospheric composition (gases and aerosols) relevant to global climate change. Organic aerosol particles, consisting of an appreciable fraction (from several to several tens of percents) of aerosol particle mass, should have large effects on the local and global climate through their direct and indirect effects. However, they are only poorly described in the model simulations exploring chemistry-climate coupling, partly because the organic composition is very complex at a molecular level and thus the on-line measurement techniques of organic particles with meaningful classification have not been fully established. Under this condition, we plan to start development of a new instrument based on the laser-induced fluorescence technique to achieve on-line measurements of classified organic aerosol particles.
We expect that candidates have a Ph.D. in related fields, especially with background knowledge and experience of laser spectroscopy. Knowledge of atmospheric chemistry and experience of field observations of chemical/optical properties of aerosols are also regarded as advantages .
Any nationality and any sex could be applied. FRCGC has the principle of equality of men and women as it relates to the recruitment of all staff. With a view to achieving a more equitable balance of men and women in all positions, we would like to particularly encourage qualified women to apply.
