______________________________________________________________________________ This DMI time series contains one value per year - and this is an average from June till October. This is for the period 1958 till 1999. We filtered off periodicities longer than 7 years (the decadal component) before calculating the index. The DMI is the difference of SST anomaly between the western (50 E - 70 E, 10 S - 10 N) and eastern (90E - 110 E, 10 S - Equator) Indian Ocean. The values given here were normalized by the standard deviation of the DMI. ______________________________________________________________________________ Year Value 1958 -0.438061 1959 -0.262484 1960 -0.372913 1961 0.688071 1962 -0.183317 1963 0.376565 1964 -0.533300 1965 -1.99373E-02 1966 0.177544 1967 0.425093 1968 1.25660E-02 1969 -0.147241 1970 -0.426079 1971 -0.398483 1972 0.664254 1973 -0.220716 1974 -6.44312E-02 1975 -0.216678 1976 0.134352 1977 0.378757 1978 8.47251E-02 1979 8.45996E-02 1980 -0.163898 1981 -0.145619 1982 0.429451 1983 0.410260 1984 -0.238034 1985 -0.211715 1986 -4.61443E-02 1987 0.167046 1988 -2.05965E-03 1989 -0.240778 1990 -0.127458 1991 0.251152 1992 -0.559459 1993 3.69789E-02 1994 1.00999 1995 -0.238498 1996 -0.678326 1997 0.489672 1998 -0.273898 1999 0.383169
