Physical and Chemical Oceanography Research Group

The Physical and Chemical Oceanography Research Group is mainly in charge of shipboard observations, which among observation systems provide the most accurate data. By analyzing these highly accurate data, this group seeks to clarify subtle but significant changes in the global ocean environment and to better understand physical-chemical relationships and linkages in the ocean.

Main Ocean Observation Program :

“Quantitative” ocean observation experiment in the North Pacific

Interdisciplinary cross-cutting global observation experiment linking physical and chemical oceanography

Ocean observation systems to collect chemical data are still in the development stage. By improving observation tools and sensors and increasing the amount and quality of chemical data collected, this group promotes the integration of physical and chemical oceanography
