The seas around Otsuchi bay, Iwate

Field survey

Loggerhead and green turtles were captured by set nets in coastal area. They were transferred to International Coastal Research Center, Atmosphere and Ocean Research Institute, University of Tokyo. When they were released into the sea, devices were attached. The devices were automatically detached from the turtles and were retrieved. Swim speed, acceleration, geomagnetism, depth, temperature and video were obtained.

During the study period, in total 5 loggerhead and 16 green turtles were captured by set nets. Data loggers were deployed on 3 green turtles and they were retrieved from three green turtle.
