OverviewPeriodical surveys at one or two representative sites will be carried out at the seagrass beds and Sargassum beds in Onagawa Bay. Purpose of the surveys is to show the current environmental condition of the marine forests in Onagawa Bay through the examination of accompanying animals and plant biomass in the marine forests.

Results and Future PlanBiomass surveys for Sargassum bed and seagrass bed in Takeno-ura were conducted in May, August, November, 2017 and February 2018. Underground biomass data were also obtained for seagrasses. Community analysis of epiphytic animals on the Sargassum seaweeds are also in progress.
