About the Data Site of Hydrological Cycle Observational
Research Program,
Institute of Observational Research for
Global Change
Aims
The Data Site of Hydrological Cycle Observational Research
Program will make fundamental contributions to hydrometeorological
science and will disseminate obseravational information
in order to advance understanding of the global climate
system.
The Hydrological Cycle Observational Research
Program (HCORP) focuses on whole eastern Eurasia from the
tropics to Arctic, in which characteristic hydrological
cycles strongly influence climate system of the global
scale and the continent scale. The tropical region is the
heat source of the earth, including the Asian monsoon region,
which may show abnormal moisture convergence and rain enhanced
by global warming. The Eurasian cryosphere region shows
great anxiety about strong warming and exerts a wide-area
influence on hydrological cycle through the change in snow
and ice/vegetation/water. As a part of our study activities,
HCORP archives and distributes up-to-date hydrometeorological
datasets provided by our observation network in these regions.
