Water greatly influences the variety and the characteristic of the global climate. Currently, it is necessary to understand the hydrological cycle from the viewpoints of water resources, disasters and agriculture because there is a great concern about the change and the variability of the cycle caused by global warming.
Our program focuses on the researches in two regions. One is Asian monsoon region; the region is considered as the heat source region and directly affects on the climate in Japan and is expected to have an enormous amount of precipitation influenced by global warming. The other is Eurasian cryosphere region; the region is assumed to get a great influence of global warming and affects on wide regions through the changes of snow and ice, vegetation, and hydrology. We research on the hydrological cycle influencing on the continent and the globe through modeling, simulation and sensitivity experiments, in addition to the in-situ measurements at sites shown above.
