JKEO1 from February 2007 to March 2008
JKEO1 mooring is based on KEO mooring which was developed at the Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory (PMEL) and is essentially a Tropical Atmosphere Ocean (TAO) mooring modified for the harsh conditions of the Kuroshio Extension region.

These mooring designs adopting K-TRITON buoy for its top buoy are based on m-TRITON mooring design developed at the Marine Technology Center (MARITEC) at JAMSTEC for maintaining the m-TRITON (emf stands for eMinif) buoy designed for making its size and weight smaller than the TRITON buoy used in the Tropical Pacific. K-TRITON buoy (eKf stands for Kuroshio or Strong current [Kyoryu in Japanese] region) is essentially a m-TRITON buoy modified for the harsh sea conditions.
