Asia CliC Workshop
“Large-scale hydrometeorology of Asian Cryosphere”

May 17 - 19, 2007, Yokohama, Japan

• Objectives:
  Main objectives of this workshop are to discuss the below scientific issues more deeply and develop certain implementation plan, in order to proceed with the Asia CliC(Climate and Cryosphere) activities. This will be basically follow-on work of the Working Groups on snow cover and hydrology, frozen ground, large-scale interactions, and part of satellite and modeling group at the time of 1st Asia CliC Symposium, April, 2006, and to develop them further. Expected product will be report on the implementation strategy and plans for these issues. The region to be covered is Asian Region (Roughly eastern part of Eurasia Continent) and the surroundings.

• Contents of the workshop:
  (1) Presentation of scientific results, project, plan and others (Plenary)
      a. Large scale cryosphere changes, especially frozen ground, snow cover, solid precipitation and others.
      b. Large scale cryosphere-atmosphere interaction.
      c. Process, causes and future of water cycle of large Asian basins (Lena, Yenisei, Amur and others).
      d. Cryosphere-Biosphere (Biochemical, Aerosol) Interaction.
      e. Global climate and cryosphere in Asia.
      f. Observation necessity and data issues.
      g. Development of implementation strategy and plans.
    Although the title is “large-scale”, basic small scale processes essential to large-scale phenomena will be discussed.
  (2) Sessions to discuss the present status of Asia CliC, necessities, collaborations, recommendations (Plenary and Split Sessions)
