Our goals are environmental protection and self-sustaining development and use of the coastal areas. Various studies and developments in ocean engineering, physical oceanography, marine ecology, diving technology, and submarine medicine are divided among the three groups.

Research Group 1

Our primary focus is physical oceanographic research and development on the physical environment of coastal regions. At this point, our main goals include the development of "submarine elevators" capable of automatic measurements of the seawater environment, submarine floats for the study of the advection and spread of planktonic larvae, and a method for evaluating environmental effects sustained by coral ecosystems.

Research Group 2

We perform research and development on production at the lower levels in the coastal marine ecosystem in the fields of fisheries science, marine biology, and marine chemistry. Our current goals include a study of coral ecosystem structures and the development of a system for measuring plankton populations.

Research Group 3

Our goal is to establish safe manned submarine techniques. We carry out comprehensive research and development on (scientific) diving techniques, including submarine medical and physiological research, which we call research and development in underwater work technology. To promote efficient use of underwater regions, we are undertaking a study of the development and operation of elevated artificial seafloors.
