the Institute for Research on Earth Evolution (IFREE) of
the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC)

Institute for Research on Earth Evolution (IFREE) of the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) invites qualified applicants for positions of research scientist, technical research scientist and research assistant positions. IFREE promotes research on Earth dynamics including deep and shallow interactions, past history to present figures and geosphere-biosphere linkage with the following five research programs involving about 100 research scientists and research assistants.

(1) Research Program for Mantle Core Dynamics: Research on Earth's crust, mantle and core activities by observations and surveys in oceanic areas and analyses and simulations in laboratories.
(2) Research Program for Geochemical Evolution: Research on the evolution of solid Earth based on geochemical/petrological examination of magmas and ultra-high pressures experiments of mantle/core materials.
(3) Research Program for Plate Dynamics: Research on subduction zones including rapid processes such as large-scale rupture of plate boundaries in inter-plate earthquakes.
(4) Research Program for Paleoenvironment: Research on Global Environmental Systems among Earth, Life and Environments based upon precise strata analysis of specific ancient environmental systems and modern analogous oceanic systems.
(5) Research Program for Data and Sample Analyses: Construction of integrated database for geophysical and geochemical sciences and research on tectonics and modeling based upon the database.

Director-General: Dr. Yoshio Fukao
Executive Assistant to the Director-General: Dr. Nobuo Ito

Program Directors:

Mantle-Core Dynamics; Dr. Yoshio Fukao
Geochemical Evolution; Dr. Yoshiyuki Tatsumi
