The chamber consists of a wet chamber, a dry chamber, and a sub-chamber. The wet chamber is used for dive experiments, the dry chamber is used as living quarters, and the sub-chamber is a supplementary room. All rooms have airtight doors and can be individually pressurized.

The environmental control system is capable of continuous elimination of carbon dioxide, moisture, and odors, as well as temperature and humidity control.

The gas system can automatically or manually pressurize and depressurize the chamber with various gases over a wide range of pressures. To supply a breathable atmosphere (a mixture of air, oxygen and helium), each chamber is connected to the gas reservoir via decompression valves. The concentrations of gas components can also be controlled.

Gas type Control system
Air

Manual pressurizing and depressurizing up to 150Kg//H(underwater breathing system)

Oxygen

partial pressure control between 0.2 `1.0Kg/

Helium
(nitrogen)

partial pressure control between 0`50.0
(and 0.8 ~ 10.0Kg/)

¬‡ƒKƒX

manual pressurizing between 0.5`2.5Kg//H,
automatic pressurizing between 0.05`0.5Kg//H,
and manual depressurizing up to 150Kg/H

Information from various systems such as pressure and environmental controls are displayed on the central control unit, which can be monitored and operated by two people.

‚P) Studies of saturation diving down to 500 meter depths and short duration dives, and studies of the medical aspects of and diving apparatus involved in these dives
