The MUTSU branch
of the Independent Administrative Institution, Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology has
organized a Marine Science and Technology School of 4
days and 3 nights for students in universities and postgraduate
schools since 1999. In this School, participants have
received lectures on the marine science, including ocean
observations; the changing concentration of carbon dioxide
considered as the key cause for the global warming; tropical
phenomena related to el nino; the circulation of deep
ocean water having significant influences on global climate
changes; and the age determination of seawater. In addition,
they have taken a tour of the ocean and earth research
vessel "MIRAI" and visited the MUTSU Science
and Technology Museum.
