Special Training and Education Courses (for Divers)


 By request from diving-related companies and organizations, the JAMSTEC will organize diving training and education courses for divers to learn the basic knowledge and skill of scuba diving (or the air). The term of course will be basically for 2 weeks (10 days), and the curriculum will include training in a pool, lectures and practical training in the sea. A 5-day course excluding the practical training in the sea also will be provided by request from any organization.



Curriculum:  Lectures: the introduction to diving, physics, diving physiology and disorders, diving laws and regulations, diving methods, decompression techniques, harmful marine organisms, emergency resuscitation, diving equipment, diving accidents, and diving projects.

Training in a pool:  Snorkeling and scuba diving (wearing and removing in water, air station, diving in the dark, and obstacle removal).
Practical training in the sea:  Snorkeling, scuba diving, works by using ropes, searching methods, sea rescue methods, and recovering methods.
Others: Experiences under high pressures (equivalent to the depths of 30m and 50m).
A mask diving experience course also will be provided. Lodging facilities will be available to participants.
