JAMSTEC Supercomputer Systems

The Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) has introduced supercomputer systems for promoting research activities in JAMSTEC.
New supercomputer systems, including an SGI Altix 4700 Scalar system and an NEC SX-8R, have been in operation since September 2006, being used for numerical simulation and data analysis in the field of earth science.
Moreover, linkage with the Earth Simulator will be seen in applications such as pre/post processing of large-scale simulations.
