Cloud, precipitation, and radiation modeling research

To improve the physical process models of cloud, precipitation, and radiation for cloud-resolving models.

To improve the physical process models of cloud, precipitation, and radiation for implementation in cloud-resolving models, including global cloud resolving models such as NICAM.

In particular, we will proceed

1.
To improve the cloud physical models to simulate the effects of aerosols on the cloud radiative and precipitation properties.
2.
To theoretically study the radiative transfer process and develop a high-speed calculation scheme for a three-dimensional radiation model including cloud effects and the analysis of satellite observation data.

This is likely to improve our understanding of each physical process and its modeling, and their contribution to the improvement of the precision of large-scale models such as NICAM.
