Dr. Taroh Matsuno stepped down as Director-General
of Frontier Research Center for Global Change (FRCGC), Japan Agency for
Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) on 31 March 2005, and Dr.
Tatsushi Tokioka, Program Director of Global Warming Research Program
has taken over his position as of 1 April 2005.
As the founding Director-General of Frontier Research System for Global
Change (FRSGC), Dr. Matsuno, predecessor Director-General led the establishment
of present system of FRCGC for about 7 years since October 1997.
Dr. Tokioka, new Director-General has a lot of excellent research performances
including the developing Global Circulation Model (GCM) and is highly
appreciated for his international contributions to the Intergovernmental
Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). In addition, as a program director, he
also joins the research to complete the calculation of global warming
prediction till 2100 using Earth Simulator in JAMSTEC. His experiences
will help to enhance research collaborations with other institutes under
the present system established by Dr. Matasuno, predecessor Director-General.
