Public Open Day for JAMSTEC Yokohama Institute for Earth Sciences

The Yokohama Institute for Earth Sciences of JAMSTEC will host an annual open house on Saturday, November 26, as described below. The open house is designed to foster knowledge and interest in marine and earth sciences, and increase public understanding of research activities undertaken by JAMSTEC.

The open house features a variety of activities including science talks, science café and hands-on experiments, in which visitors will learn about the wonders of the oceans and the Earth.

  • Atmosphere and ocean simulations – finding where oceans meet atmosphere in climate variations
  • How would global warming change typhoon intensity and frequency?

    * Visitors selected by a draw will have access to the machine room.

5) Earth Science Museum

6) Kids House (activities for children)
  • Story telling, hands-on science experiments, treasure hunt, etc.
