JAMSTEC received 2017 IEEE OES Institution Award in OCEANS ’17 Anchorage

JAMSTEC received the 2017 Institution Award of the IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society* in the international convention “OCEANS ’17 Anchorage” held in Anchorage, Alaska, the United States on September 18 – 21, 2017.
The award is given to a corporation or institution that has significantly contributed to the advancement of marine science and technology. Dr. Katsuyoshi Kawaguchi participated in the awarding ceremony and delivered a speech on behalf of JAMSTEC. He is the Deputy Director-General of the Research and Development Center for Earthquake and Tsunami at JAMSTEC, and also leading the IEEE OES Japan Chapter.

* The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is the world’s largest technical professional organization of electrical and electronics engineers. The Oceanic Engineering Society (OES) is one of the societies within the IEEE that focuses on marine engineering.
