RESEARCH OUTLINE
Our research is to discern the supply of materials of terrestrial origin (both natural and anthropogenic sources) into the ocean via atmospheric deposition and/or horizontal flux from the continent/land employing sea-ground-truth observations, satellite remote sensing observations, and numerical simulation. Materials of terrestrial origin contain macro- and/or micro-nutrients (nitrogen, phosphorus, iron, etc.), the supply of which to the ocean is importance for ocean primary productivity. Therefore, the influence of material supply from the remote continent/land on the material cycle process (biological pump), thereby marine ecosystem will be investigated.
